Legacy Village at Plantation Manor Brings The Harbor to Thomasville
Legacy Senior Services, which recently assumed management, is upgrading the senior living community and its memory care area, featuring Legacy’s trademarked ‘The Harbor’ concept
THOMASVILLE, Ga. (February 25, 2015) – Legacy Village at Plantation Manor in Thomasville, Ga., is getting a beautiful facelift to go along with the new management team now operating the senior living community.
“We are excited to be enhancing the current memory care services at Plantation Manor. Our innovative Harbor concept will bring two resident-focused, life enrichment programs, Purposeful Day and SimpleC, to the Thomasville area. Both of these non-medication memory therapy technology programs will help our residents with memory stimulation and greatly increase their quality of life,” says Barry Ray, president of Legacy Senior Services, LLC, which specializes in operating and developing independent living, senior living and memory care communities throughout the Southeast.
Renovations will begin in February, and should be complete by the end of March.
Legacy Senior Services is known across the broader senior care community for its emphasis on quality care and services, including memory care. The company has worked with leading national researchers to develop and design a specific physical memory care environment, known as The Harbor, which aids in the life enrichment and delivery of care to residents.
The Harbor features bright and lively colors, large windows, specific floor types, intentional textures and furnishing -- all presenting a 1950s theme designed to remind residents of happier times. The first Harbor was developed in Rome, Ga., and has received both statewide and national recognition for the innovative design.
SimpleC is an electronic storyboard and drug free, memory stimulation system that uses touch-screen monitors that are available to each resident to deliver Time, Place and Reminiscence Therapy. SimpleC was developed through years of research by top-tiered institutions, including the Copper Ridge Institute, Emory University, Georgia Tech and Georgia State University.
A Purposeful Day ProgramSM is a comprehensive activities program that focuses on helping residents meet their highest daily potential by offering engaging activities throughout the day. The components of the program are focused on both individual and group opportunities, as research shows that both can effectively stimulate memory. The program will incorporate four types of specific therapy to engage residents: Reminiscence Therapy, Trusted Voice Therapy, Time and Place Therapy and Music Therapy.
The Harbor is just part of the upgrades planned for Legacy Village at Plantation Manor. All of the common areas have been updated with new carpet and furnishings, fresh paint and improved lighting.
